Administrative HistoryCaithness Music Association organises and promotes an annual music festival in Caithness. The association also helps young people with their musical education through the Henry Rosie Memorial Bursary Fund.
The Caithness Music Festival is an annual event for amateur musicians and dramatists. Schools and private entries are encouraged to participate in categories such as Vocal Solos, Verse Speaking, Choirs and Scots Song as well as Woodwind, Brass and String sections. The morning and afternoon sessions are held at Wick Assembly Rooms while the evening sessions are in Thurso High School throughout the week.
The first festival was held in Wick Rifle Hall on 13th June 1924 and proved a great success. The festival continues to run annually as of 2022.
