Administrative History | Joan Manson was the driving force behind the transformation of Wick Recreational Swimming Club into Wick Amateur Swimming Club. Having always had a keen interest in swimming Joan undertook to train as a swimming coach upon her retiral from the NHS in 1983 as a midwife. Having obtained her level 2 teaching certificate Joan started coaching the club members in the four competitive strokes of front crawl, back crawl, butterfly and breast stroke. Joan also arranged training for the officials of the Club and other activities which ensured that the Club continued to build on its successes. Joan finally retired from teaching swimming in 2020.
