Administrative HistoryAlexander Malcolm (1834-1907) was the youngest son of George Malcolm who died in 1881, and Anne MacLeod Malcolm, both of whom are buried in Halkirk churchyard. (Alexander's elder brother David lived in Kinnaird Street, Wick; another brother, George, was a joiner in Dunn and then lived in Barrogill Street, Wick.) Alexander Malcolm was a pupil teacher at Latheron School and Headmaster at Harpsdale and Watten Schools. He taught at the Royal Latin School, Buckinghamshire, before leaving Britain to become Headmaster of Riversdale School, Riversdale, Cape Province, South Africa. He was the author of "Trials and Travels of a Dominie", published in 1874
