Administrative HistoryThe temporary service bridge was opened in 1875, when the old bridge on Bridge Street was being re-constructed The bridge was situated near the harbour, adjacent to where the Riverview Medical Practice now stands; and although not intended to be permanent it became so popular that it was decided that it should remain. The photograph dates from around 1936 when the service bridge was replaced with a permanent structure.
