| Administrative History | William Massie married Winifred Massie in 1944; he inherited Shielton Farm in 1947 from George McKinnon and he and Winifred farmed it until 1956, when the farm was sold. The winter of 1954-5 was particularly harsh and resulted in "Operation Snowdrop", a major military operation to deliver food and supplies to snowbound parts of north Scotland, including Shielton Farm. |
