Administrative History | Purves and Brown occupied the first two shops in Stafford Place, Wick in the mid-19th century. After them the drapery shop was taken by Robert MacLean of Hawick, who ran a ladies' outfitting business. He didn't stay in Wick long, and the shop was taken by James Robertson. The grocery business was bought by R.H. Colvin of Edinburgh, who was assisted by his brother, Andrew Colvin. After R.H. Colvin died in March 1850 at the age of 32, Andrew carried on the business. |
