Administrative History | John Robertson Bruce (b. 1902, d. 1965) was a boat builder and was employed by Donald Alexander in his yard in Martha Terrace, Wick, both pre and post- World War II. He built many fishing vessels for the local fleet and large numbers of smaller pleasure craft, especially loch boats. The yard closed in the mid- 1950s and John struck out on his own. He still carried out work on some local boats but expanded into work on houses and on local estates. He kept a log book of work carried out, materials supplied, amounts charged and payments received. |
