| Administrative History | Kingussie was initially created a Burgh of Barony in 1464 and was redesigned as a planned village by the Duke of Gordon in 1799 before becoming a Police Burgh in 1867. Kingussie Town Council was was abolished in 1975 under the terms of the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1973 (c.65). Its powers were assumed by Highland Regional Council and Badenoch and Strathspey District Council. |
