| Administrative History | The original Wade Collection of manuscript maps and plans is deposited in the Map Library of the National library of Scotland. The collection takes its name from Field Marshall General George Wade (1673-1748), Commander-in-Chief in Scotland during the period 1724-1740, with whom the maps are associated. The maps relate to the planning and building of forts, barracks and roads in the Highlands of Scotland |
