| Administrative History | Culloden House, seat of the Forbes family, paid host to both Charles Edward Stuart and the Duke of Cumberland prior to the Battle of Culloden on 16 April 1746. After the death of Duncan Forbes, 8th Laird of Culloden, on 4 April 1897 the house and contents were sold off in the sale which began on 21 July 1897. |
