| Administrative History | An American company founded in 1919, Brown and Root began with road-building and infrastructure projects before building one of the world's first offshore oil platforms in 1947. The Nigg oil platform construction and fabrication yard was opened in 1972 by a joint venture between Brown & Root and Wimpey Construction. The fabrication yard was later "mothballed" and put up for sale in 2006. In 2012 the yard was taken over by the Global Energy Group and renamed Nigg Energy Park. |
