Administrative History | The Nairn Games were inaugurated on Saturday, August 10th 1867, with the intention that this should be the first in an "annual series of athletic sports and Highland games." With the exception of breaks during the two World Wars the games have continued as an annual event to the present day and are now considered to be one of the largest and most popular gatherings in the North. The programme includes piping and dancing competitions, athletics and the traditional heavy events. |
