Administrative HistoryThe Macintosh of Raigmore family traces its genealogy back to Lachlan Mor, XVI Chief of Macintosh; they took charter of the lands of Raigmore from Earl Moray in 1761. These papers refer mainly to Lachlan Macintosh and his brothers Donald and Eneas. Lachlan Macintosh returned from Calcutta in 1808 and became a prominent member of Inverness society. He fund-raised extensively for the Royal Academy and Northern Infirmary and was owner/proprietor of the Inverness Journal through which he campaigned extensively on social issues. His son Aeneas William Mackintosh was MP for Inverness Burghs 1868-1874.
