Description2 calendars by Howard Chitty, 1989 & 1993; "Highland News" dated 22 July 1982 re Kessock Bridge opening to traffic; "Inverness Courier, 2nd Section" dated 1 February 1989 re collapsed Waterloo railway viaduct, Inverness; "Sunday Standard" final edition dated 31 July 1983.
Administrative HistoryThe depositor collected the items out of personal interest, but decided to dispose of them and asked the Highland Archive Centre if they would be of interest, otherwise they would have been destroyed. Howard Chitty (1916-1992), architect, whose drawings are produced in the two calendars in the collection, was the grandfather of Rory Gowans, criminal defence solicitor in Inverness. The latter’s father was Jack Gowans, in the words of the depositor “a legend in our Courts”, who died young of multiple sclerosis.
