| Description | John Hunter was born in North Leith, Edinburgh in 1838, and enlisted in the 71st Highland Light Infantry in 1859. He served in India for five years, before returning to Edinburgh Castle with the regiment. He spent time at Fort George drilling the Army Reserve. John married Mary Stewart in Naas, Dublin in 1868 and died in Inverness in 1910. |
