Administrative History | The provenance of this collection is unknown. Papers of Alexander Fraser (1822-1899), banker and Provost of Inverness; though discontinuous and fragmentary comprise the greater part of the accession; . papers of the Commercial Bank of Scotland in Inverness . correspondence to James Wilson, solicitor in Inverness and Fraser's predecessor as agent for the Commercial Bank; . papers belonging to Hugh Fraser, Alexander's brother; . papers of unknown or uncertain provenance. Fraser was associated with the Bank for more than 50 years; he served as Provost and County Councillor, as a Justice of the Peace, and was a founder member of Inverness Free High Church - among much else. A copy of Fraser's obituary, published in the Inverness Courier of 20 October 1899, is held in the Archive office. |
