Administrative History | Sir Murdoch MacDonald (1866-1957) was resident engineer for the construction of the Black Isle railway and the surrounding estates, including the hydro-electric plant at Rosehaugh House, and the water Supply of Fortrose and Avoch. He later founded the firm of Sir M. MacDonald and Partners, civil engineers, in 1921, which opened an Inverness Office in 1927 as part of a national operation. He was also heavily involved with the construction of the Aswan Dam in Egypt from 1898 until his death in 1957. |
