The rest of the collection compromises the journals, printed material, photographs, drawings, needlework samplers and sundry items of Miss Elizabeth (Bessie) Ross (c 1863-1910). |
| Administrative History | Invercharron (or Invercarron) estate was in the parish of Kincardine, Ross-shire. Elizabeth (Bessie) Ross was the youngest daughter of Charles Ross of Invercharron who was in turn the second son of Lord Ankerville.
David Ross, third of Invercassley or Inverchasley, raised to the title of Lord Ankerville (1727-1805) married Margaret Cochrane. Their children were:

The estate of Invercharron was entailed to Charles Ross by his uncle General Charles Ross the second son of David Ross, the second of Inverchasley. The estate passed to Robert Ferguson Ross the second son of Charles Ross, advocate, and on his death in 1875, it was entailed to his sister Margaret Ankerville Grove Ross and her husband Captain Joseph John Grove Ross. Their daughter Amelia Donald Ankerville married John Senhouse Goldie Taubman. Their eldest son, Leigh Goldie Taubman, was executor of the estate of his great aunt Elizabeth (Bessie) Ross. |
